DO YOU REMEMBER? Buka Jalan International Performance Art Festival was held for the first time at the National Art Gallery of Malaysia (now National Visual Art Gallery) from 25 - 28 February 2011. More than a year later, we have compiled a book documenting the process, outcomes and issues surrounding the festival. This includes essays, a comprehensive interview and candid statements from participating artists about their experience, in both Bahasa Malaysia and English.
Buka Kolektif cordially invites you to join us in celebrating the launch of this book. There will be light food and drink starting at 7.30pm. Selected videos of the performances will be screened in the background.
Starting 8.15pm, there will be a discussion where you can air your views and ask questions. It will be moderated by Yap Sau Bin. The discussion will focus loosely on what we remember about the 2011 Buka Jalan festival and what we would like to do in the future.
We also remember and celebrate our dear friend and comrade Avroco Nasir, who passed away a year ago.
